Vincennes, Indiana, is a small city in the southwestern portion of the state and is probably not very well known to many people unless you reside nearby or you are into early United States history. Historically speaking, Vincennes is a city that holds the “first in Indiana” title for several things such as the first bank, first college, first newspaper, first county, and so on.
I initially moved to Vincennes, Indiana with my family during the summer before my junior year in high school and left promptly after graduating high school. Years later, I returned after I was hired to work as a photojournalist at Indiana’s First Newspaper – the Vincennes Sun Commercial. This time, I only lasted about a year before I scurried off to Chicago. Although my parents still live there and I come back to visit often, I still really don’t feel that Vincennes is “home” to me, but I can’t deny that it is a been a part of my life for many years.
